EASTERN REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS UPDATE
1776 United FC 01 Girls and 07 Boys Advance

Both the 1776 United FC 01 Girls and the 07 Boys have put on a great display in West Virginia at the Eastern Regional Championships. Both teams recorded perfect 3-0-0 records in the groups stages to advance to the knockout stages of the competition.
The 01 girls outscored state champions from Massachusettes, Connecticut and Virginia, 17 goals for and zero against. They followed up on their impressive start by beating the two-times reigning east coast regional champions from New York West 3-2 in the semifinals. After taking a quick 2-0 lead the game was suspended for lightning, allowing the New York team to regroup. The half finished 2-1, but with 1776 in control. Shortly after the break 1776 added a third and it looked like they would post another big score. However, after letting a series of good chances go begging and not getting several calls that looked like certain penalty kicks, the New Yorkers pulled another back leading to an anxious final 20 minutes. During that time there were several more chances for the United team to put the game away but the game finished 3-2. The victory was made sweeter by the fact that this was the team that had beaten 1776 in the previous two regional semi finals in tight games. It was only the fourth time in a year the team from Binghampton had not one, since 1776 United beat them in a league semi final back in April 2018.
