Currently Coaches Nether 2003/2004 age group and many of our Intramural Academy programs. He also coaches several of Nether players as the 2003 EPYSA ODP Boys Head Coach
For Penn State Brandywine, Coach Spangler was chosen as the 2014 PSUAC Coach of the Year. He recently completed his second season as head coach at Penn State Brandywine where he compiled a 24-16 record in two years, including a 20-1 mark against league foes.
In 2014, Spangler guided the Lions to their second-straight conference crown as the team topped Penn State York in the title match after rolling through the regular season with an unbeaten league mark. Brandywine made its second consecutive appearance in the USCAA National Tournament and four players earned all-PSUAC recognition, including PSUAC Player of the Year Bill Walleekendeh.
Spangler started his soccer career as a player at Strath Haven High School, where he was named team captain and earned Delco Player of the Year honors in two consecutive years. He was named to the High School All-American team in 2001 and attended Virginia Tech on a soccer scholarship, serving as a captain on the team that appeared in the NCAA Division I Final Four.
Spangler has leveraged his success on the playing field to build his career as a coach and mentor. In 2009, he founded Future Captains Sports, an organization that works with soccer players and teams throughout the region to help them develop the skills and knowledge necessary to compete at the highest levels. He coached youth and high school soccer, trained players in the youth Olympic Development Program (ODP) and has created programs to use soccer as a vehicle to reach underprivileged youth
